About Us

We are the Urban and Regional Economics Seminar Group (URSEG): a  network of academics, policy makers and practitioners whose aim is to develop and share a heterodox analysis and understanding of the economics of regions and urban areas.

Membership is free and open, especially to younger individuals and those newer to this field of inquiry.

URSEG was established in 1976 as an Economics and Social Research Council (ESRC) Seminar Group. Since its establishment it has held a number of events covering topical issues in regional and urban economics. Its members have produced influential works that have shaped  insights of how regional and urban economies function , develop are are sustained.

The aims of URSEG are analytical, educational and informational in order to engage with different perspectives  in a critically  open way.
